In the 1960s the CIA was instrumental in infiltrating the mass media in a coordinated effort called “Operation Mockingbird”. During this time one of the psy-ops that was orchestrated paid special attention to those intelligent minds that started to see how the dots were connected and began to call the government out on their shenanigans. The media began to refer to these people as “Conspiracy Theorists” and passively derogatory term that eventually pushed every intelligent thinker away in fear of being discredited.
